KLICKS RESTAURANT CHAIR AND BAR STOOL
Tasmanian oak, Tasmanian oak veneered ply back and seat. Collins Place for IM Pei.
The brief from the project architect was to create a solid craft-based chair and bar-stool with flora iconography at a commercial furniture price point, to be manufactured in Australia, in Australian timber. In the event, Lueckenhausen designed an abstracted tree trunk and canopy motif for the chair back and by cutting a standard bent ply form at an acute angle, created the illusion of a complex bend. The ergonomics were based on the Dreyfus specifications, resulting in a level of comfort that surprised patrons probably because of the lines of the chairs, and the un-upholstered seats. The chairs were manufactured by James Bradley in Launceston, Tasmania.
