ENTRANCE FOYER TROMP L'OEIL OVERLIGHT (AMIEU)
Referencing internal vaulting as in the Pantheon, Rome.
Over the generous headspace immediately inside the doors is a large light in the form of a shallow inverted pyramid divided into the graphic illusion of a coffered ceiling, referencing classic ceilings such as that of the Pantheon in Rome. The grid of powder-coated framework supporting the translucent panels has been designed with a forced perspective to create the illusion of the proportions of an actual pyramid. At the top is a transparency of a cloudy sky, again, referencing the centre hole in the dome of the Pantheon. The immediate visual effect is that of having greater headspace and a feeling of light and openness in what is actually a ground floor location in a building with several floors above.
